DIRECTORS STATEMENT

I wrote Femme after years of reading all the horrible things that society have subjected against women. Generations of sexual assault, neglect, treating women like objects. Women were only given the right to vote and work in the last 100 years. There is a very high rate of sexual assault against women in Australia.

According to the 2016 Australian Bureau of statistics (ABS) Personal Safety Survey (PSS): Almost 2 million Australian adults have experienced at least 1 sexual assault since the age of 15 and around 630,000 Australian woman experienced their most recent incident of sexual assault perpetrated by a male in the last 10 years (Australian institute of Health and Welfare) and those are only the incidents that get reported.

When I spoke to the women in my life, I was surprised how many I knew personally had actually been sexually assaulted themselves.

If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is injustice.

So then i thought, what if there was someone who collected files and cases on the offenders who got away and gave them their just desserts?

I wanted to make a film that brought up how the criminal justice system is failing the women in our society.

Femme is a Neo Noir revenge fantasy.

We follow Olivia, a 30 year old lawyer working for one of NSW’s crown prosecutors who specialises in sexual assault cases. While trying to find out about the disappearance of her father, Olivia takes on the mantle of the “Femme” and hunts down men who seem to keep getting away with their crimes. It’s an action filled script that is dark, gritty and takes on the style of Neo/Film Noir with a modern twist.

KEVIN

Kevin is in an unhappy marriage, his writing career has gone nowhere and he feels helpless. His wife Cindy is always going out to business meetings with her co worker Lennard, who is handsome, charming and has a dashing moustache.
None of the things Kevin seems to have.

It's not until he meets Shelly, who helps him discover that there is no love without honesty, nor honesty without love and um.. has anyone seen Kevins Pants?
